Overview
Voice Mate is developed by JRP Apps as a privacy-focused utility designed to provide users with a secure, confidential environment for recording personal voice notes, lectures, meetings, and thoughts.
We believe that voice memos can contain sensitive, confidential, or proprietary information. Accordingly, Voice Mate does not implement any user accounts, advertising SDKs, cloud synchronization, or remote database services. All data handling occurs on your device.
Audio Recordings and Local Data Storage
When you record audio using Voice Mate, the generated audio files (such as .m4a or .webm formats) and associated metadata (recording title, duration, timestamp, folder assignments, and favorite status) are stored exclusively on your device's internal storage or, in web environments, within your browser's private CacheStorage.
JRP Apps does not maintain servers that receive, index, transcribe, or back up your recordings. Your audio files never leave your device unless you explicitly choose to export or share them through standard operating system sharing features.
Microphone and Hardware Permissions
To perform its core recording function, Voice Mate requires permission to access your device's microphone:
- Microphone Permission (
android.permission.RECORD_AUDIO): Requested solely to capture audio when you tap the Record button. Microphone access is strictly active during an ongoing recording session and immediately terminates when you pause, stop, or cancel recording. - No Background Audio Access: Voice Mate never activates the microphone without explicit user action and does not monitor ambient audio in the background.
Storage and File System Access
Depending on your operating system version and feature usage, Voice Mate may use storage permissions or system file picker dialogs:
- Local Audio Storage: Used to write recording files to your app-specific storage directory and retrieve them for on-device playback.
- File Export & Sharing: When you select an audio note to share or export, Voice Mate passes the file directly to your device's native system share sheet or download provider. The app does not access other private media or documents on your device.
No Account Required & No Personal Data Collection
You do not need to register, log in, or provide an email address, phone number, or social media profile to use Voice Mate. The app does not collect personal identifiers, device serial numbers, contacts, or location data.
Zero Third-Party Telemetry and Analytics
Voice Mate contains no third-party tracking frameworks, crash-reporting trackers, or analytics SDKs (such as Firebase Analytics, Google Analytics, or Facebook SDK). We do not track what you record, how many recordings you make, how often you use the app, or what folders you create.
Advertising Practices
Voice Mate does not serve third-party banner ads, interstitial ads, or tracking ads. Your recording workflow is completely ad-free and undisturbed.
User-Initiated Sharing and Exports
You retain complete ownership of your audio files. If you choose to export or share a recording via messaging apps, email, cloud drives, or Bluetooth, the file transfer is handled entirely by your operating system and the third-party application you select. JRP Apps is not involved in that transmission.
Data Retention and Deletion
Your recordings and metadata remain on your device for as long as you choose to keep them:
- Manual Deletion: When you delete a recording within Voice Mate, the audio file and its metadata are permanently removed from your device storage immediately.
- App Uninstall / Data Clear: Clearing app storage in Android Settings or uninstalling the app permanently erases all internal recordings and configurations.
Data Security
Because all audio and metadata are stored locally, the primary security of your recordings relies on your device's built-in security features, such as your screen lock, biometric authentication, and device-level encryption. We encourage you to use device-level security to protect your sensitive recordings.
Children’s Privacy
Voice Mate is a general utility app designed for all audiences. Because it does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information on remote servers, it complies with the requirements of children's privacy regulations including COPPA.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically if we introduce new features or if regulatory requirements change. Any updates will be published on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
